I never had a sister. I grew up with one brother, who was eight years older than me. He loved me endlessly, but we were never really close. When I was first introduced to the idea of Greek life I knew there was no way I’d miss out on having 200+ sisters. I found my home away from home, with a brand new family to call my own. These girls truly are the sisters I never had.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO THROUGH RECRUITMENT?

To finally have sisters.

To find a place where I knew I could be myself.

Freshman year at JMU was the absolute worst year of my life. I was depressed, stricken with anxiety and came back to school sophomore year with about three true friends. I needed a place to be myself, grow, and recover. ADPI was the open door I was looking for. Honestly, had I not joined this chapter, I would have transferred out of JMU. I cannot thank ADPI enough for seeing my true colors during recruitment and for accepting me still today, as a senior.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE OUR SISTERHOOD?

Genuine.

We’re all so genuine and down-to-earth. We truly want to live for each other; there’s always someone who will be willing to help you with whatever you may need.

- Lindsey Brockman

Honest.

The one word I would use to describe our sisterhood is honest. Honest with ourselves and honest with each other. We don’t need to impress each other or pretend to be something we’re not. We rock our messy buns, sweatpants, and eat pizza at 2am! #noshame

WHAT IS THE BEST PART ABOUT BEING A PART OF ADPI?

Having sisters that are always there for you.

The best part about being in ADPi is the constant support system that you are immediately a part of. From day 1, these girls have your back and are willing to help you out with absolutely anything. They are always there for you, whether you need a computer charger at the library or just someone to laugh with.

Knowing that I have a strong sisterhood.

To me, the best part about ADPI is knowing that no matter what happens or what I’m going through, I always know I have a strong sisterhood to back me up and be there for me.
